Dr. Swapnajit Chakravarty obtained
his PhD in Electrical Engineering, specializing in optoelectronics and
nanophotonics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2007. He obtained
his B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering in 2001 from Jadavpur University,
Kolkata, India, and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering (Electronic Materials and
Devices) from the University of Cincinnati in 2003. Prior to joining Omega
Optics, Dr. Chakravarty held a research scientist position at Philips Lumileds
Lighting Company in the Device Development Division, and an Applications
Development Engineer position at KLA-Tencor in the Reticle and Photomask
Inspection Division (RAPID) . Dr. Chakravarty has been an active researcher in
photonic crystal microcavity devices. His research area includes electrically
and optically injected 2D photonic crystal lasers and light emitting arrays and
photonic crystal sensors. His recent research interest is to utilize photonic
crystal slot waveguide devices and photonic crystal microcavity devices for
optical sensing and spectroscopy. Dr. Chakravarty is proficient with optical
device design and fabrication, and has solid foundation in semiconductors,
integrated optics and photonic crystal sensing. Dr. Chakravarty has over 20
publications in refereed journals and conferences. His research on electrically
injected 2D quantum dot photonic crystal light emitting arrays received critical
acclaim with the Raith Micrograph Award in 2006.
